It is a combination of two words digital and marketing. Digital is related to Internet and Marketing is related to Advertising.
Digital:
It means computer and internet which is an electronic device. It uses discrete or binary values, usually 0 and 1 or off and on. All data to be processed by a computer must be digitally encoded as a series of 0’s and 1’s, each of which is called a bit. These bits are grouped together into bytes to represent data such as numbers, letters, images or sounds.
Marketing:
The term ‘market’ originates from the Latin noun “Marcatus” which means “a place where business is conducted.” A layman has somewhat similar connotations of the word ‘market’ which brings to his mind the vista of a place where the buyers and sellers personally interact and finalize. The term Marketing is not just about promoting and advertising. It is a complex concept where you send the right message to the right person via the right medium.
